Andrea Longe

Andrea Longe has over 20 years of professional healthcare experience. She is nationally certified as an Activity Consultant with a specialization in Memory Care through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Andrea has been the Recreation Services Manager at Wake Robin, a continuing care retirement community in Vermont, for over 15 years.

 

As a dedicated activity professional who has grown through serving people on all levels of care, she embraces a collaborative approach to deliver quality of life experiences. She is an advocate for person- centered care and believes that every person should be given choice and opportunity to discover what makes them happy and feel a sense of purpose. She co- teaches interdisciplinary person-directed care as part of new employee orientation at Wake Robin.

 Andrea earned her bachelor’s degree from Champlain College in 2005. Through her own MEPAP class experience, Andrea developed a lasting friendship with her co-teacher. Both leaders are native Vermonters who share a deep love for family.

Activity Professional Certified Course

As a Licensed Instructor, I am qualified to deliver NCCAP’s standardized Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP) for NCCAP certification. 

 

For over 30 years, NCCAP certification has been accepted for meeting the highest standard of CMS F680 and is the only certification accepted by NAAP for meeting the Professional Standards of Practice to be an Activity Professional.

 

The MEPAP is infused with the person-centered principles of the Pioneer Network as well as the Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations. It is reviewed and updated regularly by an independent Clinical and Curriculum Advisory Board of geriatric experts and long-term care practitioners.

 

Like all Allied Healthcare credentials, NCCAP certification is based on a formal course of study, the MEPAP, and an independent final exam. NCCAP certification ensures you are competent to deliver person-centered care and life-enriching activity programs to enhance physical, cognitive and psychosocial well-being.

 

Currently, I teach the NCCAP’s standardized MEPAP APC (Activity Professional Certified) course. The MEPAP APC is the entry-level certification that provides the knowledge and skills to work in the Activity Profession.
