Montessori Home Engagement

The Montessori Home Engagement Course provides a strong foundation in the principles of human development championed by the world-renowned educator and researcher Dr. Maria Montessori.

As a recognized leader in early childhood development, these same Montessori principles are significantly effective when applied to the unique setting of caring for an older person at home.

With the aging population of America growing three fold by mid-century, the demands on the care giver in the home setting is growing exponentially.

To support care givers deliver high quality services in the home setting, the principles of Montessori are embedded into this certification curriculum co-developed with the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).

Founded in 1986, NCCAP is accepted by the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is recognized for the highest skills using the Social Model of Care across long-term care settings. To date, NCCAP has trained and certified over 150,000 individuals in the delivery of life enriching activities that optimize physical and cognitive function.

Individuals taking the Montessori Home Engagement Course learn valuable skills and techniques to communicate with older persons aging in place at home. Practical outcomes include techniques proven effective when dealing with the challenges of aging such as decreased mobility and cognitive decline.

The course empowers the care giver with abilities and confidence to engage, communicate and deliver personalized activities that are meaningful to the older person in their care.

The competencies and knowledge from this course are designed to improve the health, well-being and quality of life of both the care giver and care provider.
