The Person-Centered Engagement Certification is designed for all frontline and direct support staff to gain a thorough understanding, along with the knowledge and skills, to engage residents and deliver person-centered care. The competencies learned through the PCEC instructional curriculum empowers staff to engage, interact, communicate and respond to residents in a manner that builds a spirit of community and belonging among both staff and residents. It also helps staff to connect with the meaning and purpose of their work as valued members of the overall caregiving community.
The knowledge and skills obtained through this curriculum can produce specific positive outcomes. These include an increase in resident or client satisfaction, increased participation in activities and an enhanced social experience. The camaraderie among staff, and a stronger connection to the meaning and purpose of their role within a care community can help address staff turnover and increase retention rates. The overall objective is create a culture that improves quality of life for both residents and staff in the participating SNF.
