Jamie Garcia, LMSW, ACC is a fully licensed clinical master social worker and certified activity consultant. She earned her MSW from Michigan State University and holds an additional Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on leadership and adult education from Cornerstone University. She served as adjunct professor at Western Michigan University and has taught Research Methods, Program Evaluation and Program Development in the Master of Social work program. She has provided education on the behavior management process at the Michigan Nadonna DON boot camp since 2016 and presented at the Pioneer Network. As a clinical consultant in the nursing home industry, she has developed and implemented programs to improve the psychosocial well-being of the residents and reduce psychoactive medication usage. She developed a successful intern program and coordinated the training and oversight of interns from several Michigan Universities to meet the unmet needs of the residents, thus improving their quality of life. She oversaw program development for both the social work and life enrichment departments in her role as clinical consultant, improving the well-being for the residents she served and increasing professionalism in the departments. She is a proven leader and strong advocate for both the activity and social work professions.

Activity Professional Certified Course
As a Licensed Instructor, I am qualified to deliver NCCAP’s standardized Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP) for NCCAP certification.
For over 30 years, NCCAP certification has been accepted for meeting the highest standard of CMS F680 and is the only certification accepted by NAAP for meeting the Professional Standards of Practice to be an Activity Professional.
The MEPAP is infused with the person-centered principles of the Pioneer Network as well as the Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations. It is reviewed and updated regularly by an independent Clinical and Curriculum Advisory Board of geriatric experts and long-term care practitioners.
Like all Allied Healthcare credentials, NCCAP certification is based on a formal course of study, the MEPAP, and an independent final exam. NCCAP certification ensures you are competent to deliver person-centered care and life-enriching activity programs to enhance physical, cognitive and psychosocial well-being.
Currently, I teach the NCCAP’s standardized MEPAP APC (Activity Professional Certified) course. The MEPAP APC is the entry-level certification that provides the knowledge and skills to work in the Activity Profession.
